Cosmic Bloom is a self-initiated procedural media artwork that visualizes the transformation of latent potential into growth and transcendence. A flower blooming in the vacuum of space—an impossible environment—serves as a metaphor for personal evolution against all odds.
Floating droplets orbit the bloom, symbolizing connection, affection, and the relational energy that fuels expansion. Entirely crafted using procedural modeling and simulation in Houdini, the work refrains from using generative AI, instead emphasizing full control over the creation process. Cosmic Bloom invites viewers to reflect on their own hidden potential and the conditions that allow it to unfold.
‘Cosmic Bloom’은 우주의 진공 속 잠재된 가능성이 개화로 전환되는 순간을 조형화한 미디어 아트 작품입니다. 본래 생명이 탄생할 수 없는 진공 속에서 피어나는 꽃은 불가능을 넘어서는 초월적 존재로 설정되며, 관람자에게 스스로의 잠재력과 가능성을 확장할 수 있다는 희망의 메시지를 전합니다. 꽃 주변을 부유하는 물방울은 타인과의 관계, 교류, 애정이 성장의 자양분이 되어 유기적 존재로 확장되는 흐름을 상징합니다. 본 작업은 생성형 AI 없이 후디니를 이용한 프로시저럴 모델링과 시뮬레이션을 통해 전 과정을 직접 제작되었으며, 관람자가 자신의 가능성과 성장을 자연스럽게 사유하도록 유도합니다.
